Summary: Home Federal Savings & Loan chose to build a new main office next door to their existing space, in order to reap the benefits of new construction in the area. In turn, the existing office was demolished and paved to serve as a parking facility.
Challenge: Home Federal Savings Bank was unsure whether to consider renovation and additions to the existing office, or to demolish the building and construct a new two-story main office on the adjoining property. PWCampbell assisted them in researching their options, by carefully considering both their current and long term needs.
Solution: After thoroughly reviewing their options with PWCampbell, Home Federal decided to proceed with building a new main office. Though additions and renovations to the existing office would have provided an extra 3,000 square feet, PWCampbell’s research showed that a new main office would have several benefits:
1. More flexibility for technology needs, such as cabling and data lines 2. Increased energy savings available with new construction 3. Minimal customer inconvenience during construction 4. Only a marginal increase in total costs with the new construction
The new main office provides retail banking services on the first floor with space for back-office operations, conference rooms, a board room and rental property on the second floor. In order to increase efficiency, a dumbwaiter was installed between floors, allowing daily work to be shipped upstairs with ease.
