Residential General Superintendent

We are seeking to add a local Residential General Superintendent to our growing and talented high-end custom home division, Phillip Wentzel Custom Homes. This position requires the individual to be construction minded, highly organized, and work independently.

Objectives of this Role

A Residential General Superintendent plans and ensures the coordination of multiple construction projects and site superintendents. Ensure total quality during and post construction.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to read and understand detailed project specifications and drawings, and then communicate that information clearly and concisely to subordinates
  • Manage site Superintendents
  • Ensure safety by having a full understanding of all OSHA requirements and compliance
  • Monitor, benchmark, implement construction production with team of Superintendents
  • Perform routine inspection of the job site, workers, subcontractors and public to ensure performance and ensure that all health and safety requirements are adhered to on a daily basis throughout the organization.
  • Conduct 9-month post completion Quality Assurance checks and manage correcting identified issues
  • Uphold high customer service standards through personal leadership and managed employees
  • Follow and promote all guidelines, policies and procedures established by the company
  • Will participate in duties such as employee reviews, wages, and disciplinary/rewards systems for individual field personnel
  • Will work side by side with Project Managers to maintain a harmonious balance of safe, productive and unsurpassed quality construction
  • Superintendent morale, productivity, cooperation, and teamwork are maintained at high levels
  • Consistently display the ability to recognize and manage priorities
  • Distribute to Superintendents and Project Managers daily jobsite write ups of current jobsite status, schedule analysis, goals and expectations to accurately reflect the true jobsite conditions
  • Ensures that the site superintendents have all the necessary daily logs and are properly executed and reported daily.
  • Communicate effectively with client and Project Manager to identify needs and evaluate solutions
  • Ability to perform small carpentry work if needed
  • Must be able to run jobsites to cover for vacations, illnesses, etc. for Superintendents 

Requirements

  • Local travel to job sites weekly
  • 10 years’ experience as a superintendent in residential construction. Custom home experience is a plus(5) years of leadership in the construction industry is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of design-build construction including scheduling, permitting, budgets, safety and reporting
  • Experience in all stages of building construction
  • Be equally comfortable leading all scale of projects, from small improvements to large new builds and remodels
  • Excellent client relations management
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a good motor vehicle record
  • Ability to lead and supervise
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Office, etc.)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
